Alabama State University’s Head FootballCoach Donald Hill-Ely speaks about the well performance his team played on April 10th against the Delta Devils of Mississippi Valley State University, he says “We were able to get it out, the weather was really nice, I would like to command the Head Coach (Vance) and his program, team played exceptionally hard, it stayed a game until about mid 4th quarter, we were able to get the ball in some good field positions, we were able to get some scores and get them out of here, but it was a well back and forth game, we made a couple more plays for us to get a win in order for us to get a championship on the eastern side”. Head Coach Ely and his team came out with the victory with a score of 42–17.

With the 79th Magic City Classic coming up coach answered some questions about the rivalry game that will be this up coming Saturday on April 17th at Legion Field in Birmingham, AL. After watching AAMU beat a JSU Deion Sanders team, HC Ely analyzed great plays from that game, he says,”They have some of the same issues that we have but they know how to protect there quarterback, well coach team and a well talented team.” Coach also speaks about his quarterback Red Shirt-So Ryan Nettles on how he improved from the South Carolina State game and have his all against Mississippi Valley, “he has responded well in stepping up in his positions,” says Head Coach

ASU and AAMU will both try to lead their teams to something that is big for the SWAC EAST and that is SWAC Championship. Both teams will compete to see who will get the opportunity to show out for the EAST. The 79th Magic City Class will be held at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama
