Women Empowerment in Mississippi
21 year old Canton, MS native holds first Women Empowerment Brunch for her community.
Bringing women closer together, to motivate, and to inspire.
This was the message from the brunch organizer, Qua’Nesia Ware and her 8 panelist who spoke at The Floss and Boss Brunch in Canton,MS
This event featured eight female business owners who all are from the same community, but branched off to other cities to pursue their dreams in owning their own business. These ladies shed a light on their life while growing up, their vision for the business that they created, their struggles on building their brand, and the success that came from it. During the event inspiring lash tech Ariyanna Larry said, “I am moved and motivated by these ladies to continue to be the best business owner that I can be and build my brand up so that I can be successful in everything that I do”.
The lovely eight ladies who spoke at the event were Oareshia Unger (Bodied By Rhee),Kimberly Ruffin (KimmieSweett), Katie McCurtry (The Luxe Plush), Ashley Griffin (Prettified), Amanda Anderson (PrettySlayer),Sharde Williams (Boujee Bodies), Erica Brent (Been Pretty), and Zhandra Prayer (PlushGirl Collection), Also listed are the businesses that they have created. The host of the event is former Miss Jackson State University (2017–2018) Comelia Walker, who is also the CEO of Finally First LLC. These ladies have encouraged and inspired other young ladies to sit down and think about what they want to do in life. They taught everyone lessons on how to maintain professional, run a good business, and still provide for their family.
As you entered the event there were multiple vendors that you could buy from. The things that were displayed for purchased were: baby clothes, hair products, wigs, jewelry, self made designed shirts and etc. These vendors were also self businesses from men and women. The most significant thing about every business that was displayed, were black owned. This was a great way to come out and motivate the black community, young and old to follow their dreams.
Organizer Qua’Nesia wanted us to walk away from this event with a few words, she said “ If you ever feel like giving up, say these things to yourself everyday: I AM strong, I AM beautiful, I AM bold, I WILL NOT worry, I WILL NOT get discouraged, I WILL stay focused, I WILL remain positive, I WIL win, I AM uniquely and wonderfully made, I’m everything GOD made me to be.”
